01A booking reference does not replace ID

Korea Express Ferry describes identity checks during ticket issue and boarding. Bring the accepted document for each passenger, not only a booking number or payment notification. If a name or date of birth is wrong, arrange the correction through your booking provider before departure.

Government guidance lists accepted identification, including passports and government-operated or recognised mobile IDs. A saved photograph of an ID is not the same thing as an official mobile identity credential. Do not assume that a photograph will be accepted.

02Prepare for children and foreign passengers

Official guidance provides different identification methods for students and preschool children, including guardian confirmation in applicable cases. Instead of assuming one document is mandatory for every child, check the operator’s procedure for the child’s age and accompanying adult.

03At the terminal

Check the port, vessel and sector, then use the operator’s ticket counter or the mobile boarding process you have been instructed to follow. Keep the ticket and identification accessible. Follow staff directions to the correct boarding point. Departure time is not the time to begin checking in.

Ticket issue, passenger boarding and vehicle loading can have different deadlines. Confirm these before choosing your ground transport. If your group splits up for the toilets or shops, agree where to meet and keep listening for the boarding announcement.

Frequently asked questions

Do children skip identity checks?

They may use a different verification method, but passenger identification is still required. Ask about the process for their age and accompanying adult.

Can I show a photo of my passport?

Do not rely on an ordinary image file as an accepted document. Prepare accepted identification and check any unusual situation with the operator before travel.
